My Words
My Words
I spent over 20 years struggling with addiction. I have been to over 25 treatment facilities and could never figure out why it worked for other people but me. I always knew that I wanted to stop using but given the choice my impulses took over and I always made the wrong one. Every part of my life was affected in a negative way because of my use. I tried drugs like Methadone or Suboxone that were supposed to help me but only found myself addicted to those and unable to adjust. Then I learned about a Naltrexone implant that is non-addictive and takes away my choice to use. I was then able to allow my body to begin the long difficult process of allowing my mind and body heal from a lifetime of abuse. After some time and with help I started to find and develop my purpose and started being able to create new ways of thinking which allowed me to identify and overcome barriers that I once thought were impossible to overcome. I quickly learned that once the substance abuse was no longer a factor, I still had me to deal with. The process was long and confusing, I had to overcome many social and behavioral challenges. That is why I am so passionate about guiding and helping others like myself who feel hopeless.
